There is always something happening around Damonte Ranch, and September is turning into a busy month for our corner of South Reno. From neighbors supporting families affected by the Hawk Fire to new places to grab breakfast and lunch, Mustang pride and improvements coming to one of our favorite local parks, here are a few updates worth knowing.
Supporting Hawk Fire Recovery in Damonte Ranch
Texas Roadhouse at 150 Damonte Ranch Parkway is holding a September 14 fundraiser benefiting Project Bear Hugs following the Hawk Fire. The restaurant announced that 10% of sales during the event would support the disaster-relief organization, which helps children, seniors and pets following disasters.
It is a great example of what I love about South Reno: when something impacts our community, local businesses and neighbors show up for one another.
Mustang Pride Is Strong This September
Damonte Ranch High School has plenty to celebrate this month. Homecoming Spirit Week runs September 21–25, culminating with Homecoming on Friday, September 25. If you live near the high school, expect a little extra Mustang energy around the neighborhood that week.
A New South Reno Breakfast & Lunch Spot
Full Belly Deli has added a South Reno location at 9333 Double R Boulevard in 89521. The location serves breakfast and lunch, including the deli’s signature sandwiches and breakfast favorites. It is another local option to add to the South Reno food list.
Damonte Ranch Dog Park Is Moving Forward
The City of Reno is moving forward with a new dog park at Damonte Ranch Park, 1950 Steamboat Parkway. Plans include separate areas for large and small dogs, concrete walking paths, a water fountain, shaded benches and an agility course. The city has indicated construction is expected during 2026.
A Transportation Project to Watch
RTC is also advancing plans for a roundabout at Steamboat Parkway and Rio Wrangler Parkway. This is a project worth following because changes at this intersection can affect traffic patterns around Damonte Ranch High School and nearby neighborhoods.
